JamesMouatt

31 Jan 1838 - 28 Jun 1909

Born in Aldgate James remained with his parents in Sparrows corner until his marriage to Maria on 26th Aug 1861 at St Leonards in Shoreditch.
James didn't follow his father into the hat making industry but was a carman (the Victorian equvilent of a white van man) for his entire working life.
In 1861 he lived at 16 Mary St, Shoreditch and by 1881 had moved to 22 Bradwell Street. By 1891 he had moved a couple of houses down to number 26. Bradwell street still exists today and is only a street away from one of Jack the Rippers murders in 1888.
In 1902 he moved to 126 Whitehorse St, now White Horse Rd/Butchers Row.
