The Royal Connection

Despite what seems to be the humble lifestyles of our family one member, albeit distant, did manage to marry into a royal bloodline.

Miriam Ellen Gertrude Bossingham married George Montegu Lennox. His father was Augustus Frederick Francis Lennox (1824-1883). His father was Lt Col Lord John George Lennox (1793-1873) Ah! a lord at last - but it gets better.

John George Lennox's father was Sir Charles Lennox 4th Duke of Richmond. Now if there was a 4th Duke there was a 3rd (his Uncle) and a 2nd (his Grandfather) also called Charles (1701-1750).

The 2nd Dukes father was yet another Charles (1672-1723) and he was the 1st Duke.

Now the name Charles seems very popular in the Lennox family in fact the 1st Duke named two of his sons Charles as the first one died an infant and it would seem that they wanted to maintain this christian name. Presumably because the 1st Dukes Father and Grandfather also bore this name. His father being Charles II Stuart King of Britain. The 1st dukes birth was an illegitimate one his mother being Louise Renée de Penancoët de Kérouaille, Duchess of Portsmouth.

So where does this put us in the line of succession, well no where really but least we have the satisfaction that the next time we bump into the Queen at the Frozen Food section of Tescos we can say "Hiya Cousin".
